Translating the issue of copyright law in the EU into a salient, passionate fight for freedom of expression and an accessible internet.
-
With a set of stringent new copyright laws being introduced throughout the EU, a group of civil society organisations approached us ahead of a crucial vote, seeking to ensure that the internet remains a place of limited censorship, exchange of diverse ideas, and copyright legislation that is fair for all makers and users across the web. At the time, even those most impacted by the proposed changes had a limited understanding of its potential impact on their careers and livelihoods.

Create.Refresh is an EU based campaign set up by Purpose and Google to improve the public’s understanding surrounding the implications to the proposed amendments to digital copyright laws. The campaign has many elements, including a creator campaign, national campaign, and platform coalition.

Hero Film
Being the lead motion designer, I produced the concept, storyboards and script for the hero film to launch the campaign and spark conversation around digital copyright.
The branding objective was to simplify the technical content of the proposal into a language that was widely understood, and that would encourage people to take action.
Bite-size content translating the issue of copyright law
By actively leading creative concepts and production, I created cohesive content that positioned the campaign as a trusted voice on copyright. We created explainer graphics, news posts, explainer videos, and call outs. The purpose of this material was to inform and update, inspire, call out, and amplify our message.
